What drives your business? Head or heart?

Have you had a chance to read my ebook, How to Be a Fab Fempreneur? If you have, you know that there are four components to the Fab 4 Framework: Head, Heart, Habits, and Hub. Cultivating all four components is a Fab Fempreneur’s best way to secure success in her business and life. If you’ve experienced even a little success in either, you probably have at least some of the framework down already (way to go!). You may have also discovered, however, that you’re better in some areas than others. Some of the Fab 4 even seem like polar opposites — like Head and Heart. While most female business owners find that they naturally lean one way or the other, Head and Heart actually complement each other to help you build success.

So how do you bring both Head and Heart to your business? Well, you can start by diving (head first!) into the following questions about your business:

  • How do you define success?
  • Do you have clear, specific goals set?
  • How will you reach your goals?

Answering the above questions will help you understand your Head. To help understand your Heart, ask yourself the:

  • What drives you everyday (other than paying the bills)?
  • What makes your business unique from other businesses?
  • WHY did you start your business?
  • What experiences or outcomes do you hope to create for yourself and others with your business?

Was it easier to answer one set of questions than the other? It usually is. If you’re more Heart than Head, you have a real passion for your work and your company vision will be strong. Your energy and excitement will spill into everything you do and help sustain your (and others’) enthusiasm. Even during those not-so-fun tasks and long hours it takes to build a successful business, you’ll stay pumped! Heart will take you a long way, but if that’s all you have you may find that you throw yourself whole-heartedly into a business only to feel like your success depends more on luck than anything else. If you find yourself wondering where your business is going next, or losing sleep over where your next opportunity may come from, you may need a little more Head in the game.

Some Fab Fempreneurs have just the opposite problem: they have developed their Heads more than their Hearts. They have a strong business plan and clear goals. They know they will be successful if they just follow their plan and work hard each and every day. As many of us experience first-hand, however, knowing what to do and actually doing it are as different as dreams and reality. And the reality is that success is very much a marathon, sometimes filled with late nights, early mornings, and lots and lots of coffee! But all the cups of Joe in the world won’t keep you excited and energized day in and day out unless you have a healthy dose of passion to go with it.

Whichever area you’re stronger at — Heart or Head — female entrepreneurs need a healthy balance of both. Developing these qualities can be difficult all by yourself, but you’re in luck, because that’s exactly what I’m here to help you with! With my Fab Fempreneurs Business Building Program, we can build the Fab 4 Framework of your business together as we concentrate on a business area each month! You’ll learn more about how to balance your Head and Heart as you increase your income. I’ll also show you how to build healthy habits and I’ll become part of your Hub!
